Awards night is postponed due to attendance.
Our photographer @_sarahcphotography_ will be at the game this week (March 22) for player card photos. Time to look your best 😎
Rookies bring a dress shirt and tie to wear for your rookie photo.
Great week 6 everyone! It was nice to see teams having full or close to full teams this week. Trade deadline is coming up in a few weeks so GMs are looking to tweak their ups heading into the playoffs.
Once again we encourage player safety. So wearing a helmet as well as having a cage or visor is recommended. Also wearing a mouth guard, gloves, cup, shin or knee guards is also recommended. Please keep your stick under control to prevent high sticks in faces.
Lastly as we get into more and more games the competition is getting a lot tougher and games are closer. Please avoid being overly aggressive near the walls, chairs and pillars as we do not want any injuries to occur.
Hello, we are looking at changing up the logo for our league. If you have any mockups/ideas please send me or your GMs a message.
1. When is trade deadline?
Before week 9
2. Should there be a rule about defending teams pinning the ball?
Rule update:
Old: Frozen balls (3 full seconds) resulting from both players battling will result in a faceoff.
New: If player pins ball for 3 seconds possession goes to other team behind their net
3. How is draft order determined?
-Champions get last pick
-Pick 2-4 determined on regular season standings
-The bottom 2 teams will compete for the first overall draft pick from Week 7 on.
4. What are the tie breakers for regular season?
-Points
-Wins
-Head to head
-Goal differential
-Goals
5. Can we switch sides before the game starts?
Yes, added to rules: this is to be able to pull the goalie easier.
Hello Everyone,
We had a great week in week 2 resulting in the Baos going over cap and Kevin Chung and David Luong involved in another trade.
We also clarified the slap shot rule and a time limit on after a goal is scored (please see rules section 12 and 15).
We debuted our jerseys for each team! Big thanks to P chan for designing and ordering them!
PLEASE ensure we keep these jerseys clean and in good condition. The jerseys stay with the team when you do get traded.
Hello Everyone!
The first week of ABHL is done and it was great to see everyone again! There were a few things that we have learned from in the first week that will make adjustments for the next games.
Gym time has been extended. Games will be starting earlier and will be longer (2x 18 minute periods).
Game 1 9:40:00 AM
Game 2 10:25:00 AM
Game 3 11:10:00 AM
Please arrive early to be ready to play at game time. The schedule has been updated at abhl.ca.
Rule changes and clarifications:
* NEW: If a team is not ready by game time: the game will start and a 1 minute delay of game penalty will be assessed to the offending team.
* NEW: If the goalie is not ready by game time: the game will start and a 1 minute delay of game penalty will be assessed. The offending team must play with 3 runners for 1 minute. After the penalty is over, the team must play with 4 runners until the goalie is ready.
* A Slap shot past half is not a penalty but a loss of possession.
* After a goal the defensive team cannot cross half until the team with possession crosses half.
* After a penalty is called and play is blown down, possession is given to the team on the powerplay behind their own goal line.
* NEW: When the penalized team's goalie freezes the ball and play is blown down, possession is immediately given back to the team on the powerplay behind their own goal line.
Corner by the door- please do not have items placed on the ground in the corner. You can use the bench but if the bench is full please do not place bags or hockey sticks on the ground
Lastly we were all happy with the effort level with everyone but we do Stress player safety. We have let the Ref know if he sees any excessive pushing or use of stick to give a warning to tone it down.
I hope everyone had a great time in the first week and looking forward to the next games!
We are Happy to announce that ABHL is Back! As you can see it will be a bit different with New GMS as well as New Logos and Team Names. The one thing that has not changed is the friendship renewed after a long break along with the fun and Healthy competition we all missed. We are all very excited for this to start and all the unique things ABHL is known for such as Hockey Cards, Highlights, Videos of full games and of course the TRADES! A Special thank you to P Chan and Brendan for making this all happen!
Safety First
We all know the games will be competitive as well as fun but we want to ensure everyone plays safely. Of course you will need a hockey stick. We will have a ref to enforce the rules but please be smart when you play.
Feel free to wear:
Shin Pads
Helmet or Goggles
Mouthguard
A Cup
